Shawn is sorely missed by all.. A true musical genius who inspired all who have heard him. Heaven certainly has one heck of a musician in it's band, that's for sure.

as i sit with tears streaming down my face, i recall seeing shawn at 15 with b.o.a. and i was about 15 also,i thought i was there to see ted nugent my hero, but i had a new one that night and forever more and it was shawn.he made such an impact on me and my playing at that age and never saw him again, until i started to tell me son about it.i started doing some research and all i can say is OH MY GOD! what a guitarist he became.he smiled at me that night in huntsville alabama,i was always up front(im a short guy). and that memory has never left my mind, when i found the pics of him at that age,it brought back a 31 year old memory at my age now of 44,and now i weep,i love you shawn, you were so much more than just a musician! the world misses you.

To miss someone you have never met, to fill a void you didn't know you had- that is the power a true hero weilds. Untouched by all the glitter and glam, you were really here, walking among us. Many shook your hand, and many more only wish we were so lucky. The world wasn't ready, but a few of us caught a glimpse before it was over. Peace be yours Shawn, your light will never fade.

What an awesome talent. An ability to communicate musically on so many levels. I am new to his music but I've heard his name for years. I didn't even know what happened. I feel sad about that. Hearing him now is a beautiful discovery.

I discovered Shawn Lane only 4 days ago. I have played since 1970. I've listened to many greats and always felt I could be as good as them if I put in the time and hard work. When I heard Shawn, I thought "this is the all time greatest". Then I listened to "Once Upon a Time in The West". I began to weep, none of it seemed to matter anymore. I have always said that beautiful hearts make beautiful music, on all levels across the board. I never knew truly what this meant until that moment. Certain classical pieces evoke deep feelings of love, humility, and gratitude in me. I really never thought anyone would ever effect me in this way with an electric guitar until I heard Shawn. Thank you Shawn, you will continue to inspire for eternity. John Schmidt

This great man,s obvious wondrous technique and ease of play make him a true visionary in his field.I am saddened at his early demise, but having lost a brother on sept 25 of this year,I am heartened to know that in heaven he must be listening to some legendary talent ad shawn joins up with those who went before him

The last week I've been listening to the complete catalouge of Jonas Hellborg. When listening and reading the covers of the CD's, I came across the name of the guitarist, Shawn Lane. I'm very sorry that he past away at such a young age. He was, and still is, one of the best guitarists I've ever heard, including John McLauglin, Frank Gambale, Al Di Meola and the list goes on... I must say I feel a little pain when listening to his playing, knowing that he's not longer among us On the other hand I feel more happiness than pain, because in his short life Shawn managed to give us some of the best guitar playing that's ever been done. I miss him, and I always will! All the best, and a Happy Christmas! Regards, -- Dag Fjellby - Norway

I was quite shocked to find out just today that Shawn passed away in 2003. I was heavily into his music during my college years (93/94) and i always found his playing and writing inspirational. Very sorry to hear about this... My deepest condolescences to the family.

Hi Diane, I first heard of Shawn in Guitar One magazine a couple of years ago. I caught a video clip of Rusty Cooly being interviewed about who his influences were, and he said, "Shawn Lane, bar none...he's the man." Well, Rusty's no slouch!, so I searched further and discovered Shawn... Music is another language, and translating it through an instrument requires an enormous amount of time and practice to just get the mechanics of it down! The gift that Shawn had more than any musician of any instrument I've ever heard was his intamacy with this strange language we call music. It was his love, and I don't believe anyone will master or understand it better than Shawn. It's getting late for me now, but I'll return here. My best with Holiday Wishes for you. -Steve

The first song I ever heard of Shawn was "Epilogue for Lisa". That song made me a different person. For a time I didn't have anything to look forward to and I had been quite depressed. You struck a chord in me Shawn with that song. This song is a song that for some reason makes me look forward and smile.. May you rest in peace and I wish the Lane family all good. Thank you very much for shearing your beautiful music with the rest of us.

One of those natural talents who uses their instrument has an extansion of their body. You should mostly be impressed by the musicality and the incredible feelings he can creates than by his invincible technique.

As a guitarist, I often hear their technique when I listen to other players, but with Shawn I only heard music. Thanks for the beautiful sounds Shawn. R.I.P. And God bless the Lane family.
