I was playing downstairs at the El Mocambo Tavern in 1980, and BOA was playing upstairs. My friend and I went up during a break to see what was happening, and the guitar player freaked me out. I mean he blew our minds! I'll bet you that was Shawn. He was just a kid, but his chops and tone were KILLER. I'll never forget that night. Rest in peace, buddy. Thanks for the treat.

Shawn Lane was definetiley an important influence on my playing, from the moment I heard "Hey Tee Bone" from MVP and heard him soloing, I loved it, I wish his music would be accesible to every person who wants to hear him.

I heard Shawn live in Sweden when he performed with the Swedish basshero Jonas Hellborg. I loved every single note Shawn played, and the solos when he was singing while playing the guitarsolo....awesome! Thankyou for great music. Lena

Shawn, What can I say that hasn't already been said about you...I hope you got what you wanted from music and it's expressive abilities. You have set the bar extremely high and I think it's going to be there a while. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to ask. love, -Armen

I wasn't aware of Shawn until today when I talked with Ron Fry for the first time. He sent me some links to some videos of Shawn to watch. Words can't say how much I can appreciate his talent. I'm very sorry for your loss. Just wanted you to know that. take care, Gary Draper

I have just discovered your son's music and wanted to send my feelings your way. I also played with Mike Shrieve, but way back in 1967 in the bay area. Shawn's style really shows his love for music and life, especially in his personal appearances onstage. I still play guitar and very much appreciate learning from those who are not carbon copies. Real music lovers are special people and I just want to say thank you for keeping this site up. Dann Henderson, Bend, Or. 541-420-8485.
