I got to know Shawn a bit when he was touring, got to play with him a little, what an experience! He was the master, the best plectrum guitarist who's ever lived in my humble opinion, a beautiful and accessable person, I miss him! He also played wonderful keyboards and drums, and he read my whole library in one week, whew!!! RIP my brotha'!

Sometimes I wonder what is more tragic: his untimely death or the fact that so few have heard or seen him play. I just thank God that YouTube came along and gave me the opportunity to see and hear Shawn Lane's music. I really do think that he is up there with the greatest guitar players of all time. R.I.P. Shawn and thank you for leaving behind some of the most wonderful works of music ever heard.

I'm was very sorry to learn of Shawn's passing. I didn't know until today. I saw him in concert several times with BOA, back in the 70s. What a wonderful talent taken too soon. KRJ

It's so cool that people can find out about Shawn and hear him play on You Tube. Like so many others I had no idea. It's so uplifting to be able to see/hear pure genius, without all the ego and marketing and such that ruins music, like it ruined my father's life.

I first heard of Shawn back in 1987 from Paul Gilbert. After hearing his work on Centrifugal Funk, I knew that this was a rare guitarist with exceptional talent. However, I came to find out, through further releases, that Shawn was more than just an amazing guitarist. He was a complete musician and had the ability to play a variety of instruments. His compositions were original, (Gray Pianos Flying, Esperanto, etc.), at times beautiful (The way it has to be, etc.), and his playing was unreal.I regret that I was never able to see him or he with the Swede and Sipe. He was one of the true greats and always will be one. He lives forever through his music.

Shawn was a master of the guitar who was unsurpassed. In his lifetime, he had no boundaries. Had he been exposed to mainstream popularity, no guitarist in all history would be equal to him, not Clapton, not Hendrix, not anyone. His music was beautiful, and from all accounts, he was a great and humble person. He will always live on in the hearts of all who listen to his music. Rest in peace.

I'm a guitarist soon but am ashamed to admit that I didn't hear Shawns music until after his tragic death. But, what a player and what heart I hear when I listen. I only wish I'd have met him. Sleep well Shawn.
